They were heading north on the 24-mile-long Causeway Bridge, which crosses Lake Pontchartrain just north of New Orleans, Louisiana. As they crossed the bridge, they could see water for miles on both sides.
“Momma, look! The moon!”
“That’s right. It’s getting late so the moon is rising.”
About a minute later . . .
“Momma, the sun is on this side!”, Kate exclaims as she points to her left.
“That’s right. The sun sets in the west. As the sun sets, the moon rises and we are seeing both at the same time.”
Together they watched as the sun slowly descended below the horizon and the moon rose above it.
“Momma, do you think Nana and Papa can see the moon?”
“Yes, they can. Even though they are in Ohio they can see the moon too.”
“Can Daddy see the moon?”
“Yes, Daddy can see the moon where he is, too”
As the sun had a sliver of visibility left, Kate bid the sun farewell, “Good night, Sun.”
Then she turned to the right and exclaimed, “Hello, Moon!”
Mom smiled to herself and promised she would never forget this moment.
That's beautiful!
